Wise Women in Maine

The Hands Off March on April 5 far exceeded anyone's expectations regarding the turnout and the energy behind it. I was surprised and frankly thrilled to see the turnout in red states and reliably blue ones. I had a great time in Wells, Maine, with my cousin and eighty-three-year-old aunt, who was out there the entire time, participating with the vigor of a twenty-three-year-old. Later, I spoke to the head of the Democratic committee in that town; she had hoped for a 50-person turnout, and they ended up with 800!
