Thoughts from a Wise Woman

  • Personal stories move people more than statistics or "XXX millions of dollars were removed from this program."
When you hear stories from your fellow citizens about the current administration's actions and policies and how they have hurt them, encourage them to record their stories (a quick video on their phone is fine) and share them on social media and with their elected officials.
Or, with their permission, you can record them telling their story and share it for them. If you are not video or social media savvy, enlist a friend to help. The point is to focus on the issues that are affecting people in their daily lives and put a face to the pain these policies cause.

  • If someone is uncomfortable being recorded, ask them to write their story down (or record yourself telling it) and share it on social media and with their reps. You can always use a pseudonym and eliminate personally identifying information before sharing it.

  • In my humble opinion, a massive opportunity for our Democratic Representatives and Senators is to reach out to Republicans in districts where their representatives refuse to meet with them.

  • If you live in an all-red state, keep the pressure on your reps to hold these town halls anyway. They need to know you expect them to listen to you; if not, you will vote them out.

  • To that end, Indivisible is organizing a mass march on April 5th, with a "Hands Off!" message to Trump and Musk.

  • Where should you go? If you can make it to DC, they want you there. If you can get to an event in the closest metro area, that's the next best thing. If you've already got an event near you, please help push it out on social media. Here is a link with a map and list of protest locations:

  • Last but not least, three special elections are coming up in the House: Josh Weil and Gay Valimont in Florida and Blake Gendebien in New York. These are tough races, but they could use your help to WIN. Donations, phone banking, and text messaging are ways to pitch in if you live outside these states.
